AI receptionist · Law firms

An AI receptionist for law firms that answers, and knows when to stop asking.

Your agent takes the caller's name, number, the type of matter in a few words and a good time to call back, only as far as your intake rules allow before a conflict check. It gives no legal advice and never tells a caller the firm will take the case. From $297 a month.

You will talk with an AI assistant. We record and transcribe the conversation.

Short intake message noted for the firm

A written example of a call, to show how one goes. It is not a recording, and Alder Sill Law is a made-up business.
When the calls come

A day of calls on a law firm's line.

People call a lawyer when they finally have a private moment: before work, at lunch in the car, after the house is asleep. Some have just opened a letter or been served papers. They want to know someone will call them back. Your firm wants a clean message that holds no more than your intake rules allow.

Example calls, by the hour they come in Calhoun, GA

An example day with the shop open from 7 AM to 6 PM. 5 example calls are marked by the hour they come in; they are listed below.

  1. 6:20 AM Prospective client

“Can someone call me about my mother's estate?”

Takes a name, number, matter type and callback time. Nothing more.

  2. 12:40 PM Prospective client

“Does the firm handle business contracts?”

Answers from your practice areas and takes a callback request.

  3. 7:15 PM Prospective client

“I was just served with papers.”

Takes the matter type and a callback time. It gives no advice.

  4. 8:30 PM Current client

“Please have my attorney call me back.”

Takes the message. It cannot see the case file.

  5. 10:45 PM Prospective client

    “Do I have a case?”

Says only a lawyer can answer that and takes a callback request.

Examples of the calls this trade gets, not real calls. Hours shown are an example. Lime is when Forge answers; calls in open hours reach it when you forward your line while you are busy.

Straight answers

What it does for law firms, and what it will not do.

Your agent can

  • Answer prospective client calls before and after office hours
  • Take a name, number, matter type and callback time, and stop there
  • Say which practice areas you handle, from what you give us
  • Take messages from current clients for the right person
  • Put calls your rules mark urgent through to a number you choose, set up on request

Your agent will not

  • Give legal advice or comment on a deadline
  • Tell a caller the firm will take the case, or that they are a client
  • Run a conflict check or ask for details your intake rules hold back
  • Look up case status, documents or invoices

Questions

Questions law firms ask first.

What does it collect before a conflict check?

Only what your intake rules allow. By default that is a name, a number, the type of matter in a few words and a callback time. It asks callers not to share details on the call, and it runs no conflict check.

Will callers think the firm has taken their case?

No. It never says the firm will take a case or that the caller is a client. It says someone from the firm will call back, and your team decides from there. We write that wording with you.

Can it answer a legal question?

No. It gives no legal advice and does not comment on documents, rights or deadlines. If a caller says they face a deadline, it takes a callback request and can flag it, or transfer it if you set that up.
